Ammon

Currently, I'm studying the Book of Mormon in Alma 17.  This is the story of the journeys of Ammon and his brothers to Lamanite country to hoping teach and convert them to the Gospel.

This story begins with Ammon.  He and his brothers split off and go in different directions.

Ammon ends up in the area where Lamoni is the king.  Ammon is brought before the king who is a descendant of Ishmael (Alma 17:21).  Lamoni is pleased to find that Ammon wants to be there and immediately wants to marry one of his daughters to Ammon.

Ammon says, “Nay, but I will be thy servant.” v.25

That really is the key to success—to serve God.

“He came not to seek the glory and honor of men, but to seek the honor and glory of His Father, and to accomplish the work of His Father who sent Him.  Herein lay the secret of His prosperity, and therein lies the secret of the prosperity of every individual who works upon the same principle.”    President Lorenzo Snow

1.    Is Heavenly Father pleased with my efforts?
2.    How might I improve so that I might accomplish His work?
3.    How can my efforts to serve accomplish both #1 & #2?
4.    What are my priorities?

So often I wear myself down trying to serve that I forget to care for myself or my family.  Usually it’s me that takes the hardest hit.  Then, I get worn down and I break usually in the form of anger or sickness.  That’s not good.

The Key to Becoming a Servant-Leader
1. Seek the honor and glory of Heavenly Father
2. Accomplish the work of Heavenly Father

“For behold, this is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”  Moses 1:39

How can I help?

The Reason

Hi!

I'm Wendi.

This blog will be dedicated to my efforts to study and apply the teachings of the Book of Mormon in my life.

I currently keep a scripture journal with my thoughts and musings but I want to share them with others.

A couple of ground rules:

1.  No bashing.  I am not keeping this blog to have major doctrinal bashes.  These are simply my observations and my thoughts on how I feel I should apply them to my life.  So, if you choose to leave a mean or nasty comment--DELETE!

2.  These are MY thoughts.  I would appreciate and even welcome your additional insight and application.

3.  Oh---I'm not a good writer at all.  I'm sure there will be many grammatical and spelling errors.  I'll do my very best to use "you're" and "your" correctly.  Sometimes my brain and my fingers don't get together to write the right wrong.  It's all good though.  I'm sure you'll understand my intentions.

4.  I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Finland over 20 years ago. One thing I did learn is that you just try to speak and the message is received if both the speaker and the listener are trying to understand one another.  I'll be taking that approach here.  Though, I won't be writing in Finnish.

5.  I attempt to have a sense of humor.  I do tend to be a bit irreverent at times.  That's ok too.  I'm currently serving as a Relief Society President so I guess God's ok with that side of me.

6.  I'm going to start writing on the blog where I currently am in the Book of Mormon.  I won't be starting at the beginning of the book.  Just didn't want to throw you.

7.  I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON!  I do know it is the word of God.  I'm grateful for it.  I love to read the Book of Mormon.  So many of my questions have been answered because of my efforts to read and understand the doctrines and principles taught within it's pages.  I do invite you to read it.  To look beyond the words.  How can you apply the stories to your life?  That's the ultimate goal here.

That's about it.  I do hope you'll enjoy this journey with me.
